Error caused by ntoskrnl.exe
Error caused by ntoskrnl.exe
I've been experiencing several BSODs lately, and despite trying numerous solutions, nothing has resolved the issue. These crashes seem linked to ntoskrnl.exe, but it appears this is likely a symptom rather than the root cause. I've shared my troubles on Microsoft support forums, yet they remain stuck on the problem. So I'm reaching out here for advice.
So far, I've done the following: updated verifier and reinstalled drivers (including older graphics drivers after replacing existing ones), rolled back the NVIDIA driver update, performed a chkdsk and scannow, ran Windows Memory Diagnostic multiple times (still no results), used HD Tune to check drive health (no boot issues detected), considered updating BIOS (not advised for my 1st generation Ryzen setup from AsRock), and analyzed a recent minidump file from playing Sims 4.
I've attached the latest minidump link I generated during that session: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhhXYHTFhch_hQdEhhVr...D?e=4Qf1WT
I ran the file through WinDbg and Bluescreenviewer, but didn't find much useful. The only clear indication was ntoskrnl.exe.
Some previous dump files are available here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhhXYHTFhch_hQiPDBrZ...q?e=JzkYe3
If anyone has suggestions or steps I might have missed, please let me know. I'm exhausted but open to trying anything that could help. I'd rather avoid a full Windows reinstall or hardware replacement until I understand what's going on.
Details of my system:
- OS: Windows 10 Education 19044.1889 21H2
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (overclocked to 3.89 GHz)
- RAM: 24 GB DDR4 at 2667 MHz (2x4 and 2x8)
- Storage: ADATA S800 128GB (boot), WD Blue 1TB, Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe 1TB
- GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1060 6GB (base 1620 MHz)
- Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W (80+ Bronze)
- BIOS: Version 5.90 (up to date for my chipset)
I'm hoping someone can point out what might be triggering these crashes.
