Hi everyone! I own an Alienware Aurora R6 and looked at the spec sheet—it lists support for up to 64GB RAM. It also mentions compatibility with HyperX Fury DDR4 XMP at 2667 MHz, which led me to buy some sticks from Amazon. After installing all four 16GB modules, my PC won’t even boot up (just a black screen), but with just two sticks it works fine and Windows shows 32GB. I found a YouTube video suggesting I enable XMP in BIOS, but since my CPU is an i7-7700 without the K, it seems overclocking isn’t possible, so XMP might not work either. My question is: can I still install 64GB RAM without upgrading the CPU? Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks! Alienware Aurora R6 Intel Core i7-7700 Windows 10

Disable the CMOS. Look for a BIOS update and attempt again.

According to the specifications, the system requires 2400 MHz memory. Begin by adjusting the BIOS settings to use 2400 MHz and test whether it can start up successfully.

It seems I don't have that option in BIOS. The menu is very limited, is there some hidden advanced menu or something? Edit: Thanks for the quick reply! @Eigenvektor

I'm not sure about the hardware or BIOS settings. Try booting from a 32 GB drive and checking CPU-Z (SPD tab). It might show an XMP profile capped at 2400 MHz. Possibly it's hidden under overclocking options, so you'd need to turn it on to adjust memory speeds. In the worst scenario, you'd require RAM that runs at 2400 MHz normally.

Yes, it seems you're on the right track. Ordering the same kit at 2400 MHz should work, provided it's compatible with your setup.

The timings table indicates the sticks operate at 1333 MHz (or 2666 MHz effectively) across all profiles, meaning a 2400 MHz requirement isn't feasible. You likely need different RAM for a 64 GB configuration.
