OK i have a 12600k oced to 5.2 on p cores, 4.2 on e cores, and 4.2 ring ratio(msi mobo). Everything runs fine, little warm but thats expected. After a update about 3 weeks ago, i will come home once in awhile and find the pc stalled. The power is on but the pc wont respond. No video. If i used the reset button, nothing. If i power cycle the pc, everything comes back up and runs fine. Friend told me the e cores are set too high. Anyone else have experience or knowledge of this? Thanks again
Your overclock isn't holding steady. It might require a higher Vcore.
He’s likely near the breaking point and struggles with certain tasks or conditions. Just because it functions often doesn’t guarantee reliability.
The actual performance gain mainly comes from RAM speed, so it’s better to stick below 1.25vcore OC rather than pushing higher. This reduces power usage and heat, saving on electricity costs. What should your P and E cores be? I recommend lowering the EC cores to 3.8g and testing if 5.2p cores can handle AIDA64. If not, increase the P core; if they work, boost the EC cores further.
5.2ghz only on power cores at 1.25v? He’s likely running above 1.30v at that speed. If not, he needs to improve. 3800mhz is an underclock—should be posting 4800mhz by default. Unless they’re using DDR4, but who knows. People seem too lazy these days to share clear system specs. You get just a symptom and a clock speed, which isn’t very helpful. That’s probably why the replies are so limited sometimes.
