Error 0x800f0922 in Windows Update indicates a system compatibility issue.
Hello everyone, I own a 2019 MacBook Pro running Windows 10 Bootcamp. Recently I encountered an issue installing a particular update. The latest version I’m dealing with is the 2022-12 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 targeting 64-bit systems (KB5012170). I’ve tried DISM, SFC/scannow, the Windows Update troubleshooter, and stopped the Windows Update service after a restart. Still nothing happens. My only suspicion is related to the system reserved partition. I notice an EFI partition of about 300MB, but there’s no option to expand it, and I’m not sure expanding it would solve the problem. Do you have any experience with this situation or suggestions?
Hi DrMacintosh, the update may not be installing because of a corruption or problem with your system's reserved partition on the MacBook Pro. Several factors could cause this issue. Here are some typical reasons: Not enough disk space on the device, corrupted system files, network connection problems, and other pending updates. To help troubleshoot, you can try these steps: Look for any updates that are still waiting, review any error messages shown during installation, and reset your Windows Update settings. If you need more guidance, consider restarting the Windows Update service or reaching out to Microsoft Support for further help.
Thank you for your response. These steps matched what I discovered after researching online. It appears the problem might be specific to Macs using Bootcamp. Referring to the support thread for Parallels, you can find more details here: https://forum.parallels.com/threads/fail...70.358161/. Since this involves VM users not updating due to a TPM issue, and your Mac lacks both TPM and firmware TPM, it seems unlikely progress will be made unless Apple addresses the matter (which seems improbable given current support for Bootcamp).
