Today morning I experimented with OCCT. The Memory Test showed errors right away. It seemed strange since everything seems to be working well. Before heading to work, I ran Memtest, but it only completed four passes and found around 1500 errors. How could there be so many issues yet my system operates smoothly? No crashes, no BSOD, no shutdowns, no game freezes. My setup is: Ryzen 9 5900x, MSI MEG X570S, Max Ace G.Skill, Neo 32GB, 2x16GB, 3200MHz, Seasonic Focus+ Gold, 850W, Asrock Phantom Gaming, 6800XT, 16GB Samsung 980 Pro, 500GB NVME OS drive, WD Green 2TB, and a Crucial MX500 1GB drive. I play Cyberpunk 2077, Saints Row 2022, Doom Eternal, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 6, and WoW. I can enjoy hours without any problems. Everything is fine except my RAM, which is at DOCP with a 3200MHz speed of 14-14-14-34. This matches the RAM I used on my Asus Prime Pro X470 and Ryzen 5 2600x before upgrading in late July. Is there another way to test the memory?

Memtest usually gives accurate results. Adjust the memory timings to 16-16-16-36 and rerun the test. Ensure the RAM operates at the specified voltage, such as 1.35v as suggested by G-skill. If issues persist, try running at 3000 MHz and recheck—lack of errors at that speed indicates timing constraints or hardware limitations at higher frequencies. Consider swapping the memory modules in the other slots if possible, especially if you suspect a faulty connector or contact.

Adjust settings directly on your device. Your friend faced the same problem using the same board with 5800x and 550MB RAM. Install Aida64, navigate to motherboard->SPD, locate the 3200@14-14-14-34 1.35v timing. Record each value carefully. Check BIOS for manual adjustments of voltage and frequency. Make sure to fold the document so timings are visible.

I tested at 3000 MHZ and it worked. For precise timing, I purchased this kit because it was promoted for 3200MHz 14-14-14-34 with XMP/DCOP. My main question is why didn’t my system crash or show a BSOD despite the errors?

It might be a single faulty chip within one stick, such as a bit error in the memory range of 32500-32768 MB. Perhaps it occurred only when many Windows apps were running and writing data to that area. The issue could appear during specific request patterns—like the RAM chip failing if the memory controller doesn’t pause long enough before reading. For instance, the CL14 latency might require extra time for internal connections to form, so requests exceeding a certain delay could bypass errors. It’s likely just a guess, but easing those timing constraints would probably fix it without major performance loss.

I tested the clock speeds today. Anything running at 3200MHz or above caused issues. Even with timings set to 20-20-20-50 at 3200MHz I kept getting errors. Raising the voltage to 1.4 didn’t help. At 3000MHz with settings 14-14-14-34 there were no problems. It seems G.Skill offers a lifetime warranty on their memory, so it might be worth returning it if needed.

I repeated the process twice to confirm consistency. With only the free version available, each run allowed four passes. I also ran OCCT, which helped identify these issues and confirmed no errors during a full hour of testing. Prior to the update, the BIOS errors appeared almost immediately after starting the test. It seems the 2021 BIOS may not have been compatible with my RAM and was unstable at those XMP/DCOP levels.
