I'm considering a budget of around three hundred dollars maximum (including shipping and taxes). That's why I'm checking out refurbished options on Amazon and eBay... starting with the hard drive space isn't crucial at first. One terabyte should suffice for FTP/media tasks, and we'll scale up later if needed... This is why I'm eyeing a server like this: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Poweredge-Ser...7015009011. I'd purchase two hard drives, one small SSD (or another fast drive) for the boot OS, and another 1TB drive... Once we're ready, we can add more drives... --James

He’s fine with the idea of bringing back his 10-year-old server. When they’re ready to upgrade, he plans to take it back home and run it himself, allowing them to purchase a new one. His main goal for this discussion was to identify what was most important for running Sorenson Squeeze—whether it was GPU power, CPU strength, ample memory, or something else entirely. He wanted to start with the most critical factor first. Thanks a bunch! —James
