Hello from Hawaii! I'm working on launching a TV network and need to optimize my setup. Sorenson Squeeze is one of my tools, but I want to ensure my computer runs smoothly for it. I'm considering a dual Xeon server with two 3Ghz CPUs and 32 gigabytes of RAM. Before investing, I need to understand what the software truly requires for optimal performance. Thanks in advance for your advice! --James

It seems you're concerned about the exons, but the i7 5000 should work just fine.

Require the high-end server configuration for stability. If your goal is a TV network, that’s likely what you need.

I thought so too till I started looking on amazon.com and I can get refurbished servers like I described for less then $500... here's an addon question, does gpu matter with Sorenson Squeeze? The server class computers I've looked at are all low end graphics like older Intel graphics which is great for a server, but I'm going to be using this for ftp as well as Sorenson Squeeze... Thanks for the help!

Are you checking if it's meant for display? It probably requires mainly CPU power.

our network will gather content from various locations via FTP, allowing automatic conversion of video formats to meet our needs. this eliminates the need for specific render settings and speeds up the process, so we can simply download the files and add them to our schedule. cpu performance is key, along with sufficient memory—around 32 gigabytes is ideal.

It really does matter having a 32-core PC with a 50TB HDD, Quadro 6000 motherboard, and plenty of RAM and power supply.
