Ensuring the upgrade of hardware while maintaining the SSD with Windows already installed?
I am still using an ASRock 85M Mobo with an i7-4770, which works quite well, but upgrading should offer better performance now. Since I’m not a gamer, I don’t need a large setup and have done some research. In the small print of your specs, I noticed Viper’s details match what I expected: Ryzen 5 5600, B550M, DDR4. The 350W power should suffice. However, I’m wondering if the SSD with the operating system and the 4TB HDD drive can be transferred to this system, as they might require different drivers. What are my chances of simply reusing the SSD? Thank you.
The chance of Intel working without issues is almost nonexistent. Your current setup requires a fresh installation. And regarding the power supply? The exact make and model aren't clear—if it's connected to the 4770 system, it's probably quite outdated and needs an upgrade.
Good to know. Thank you.
Regarding age, the Windows 11 on the USB I use functions properly after a minor cleaning with Winscript and Winaero tweaker, though...
It is version 22631.5116, which does get security updates. I don’t need anything else updated anyway.
I mean
Build 22631.5116
, it's a very old version of Windows 11.
I completed this task today...
Yesterday I finally updated my B85M MoBo to a B550M, changed the i7-4770 to a Ryzen 5 5000, and switched my DDR3 RAM to DDR4.
I flashed the BIOS with the ASRocks app and booted up using my old SSD as C:—it started working perfectly.
The only change is the activation, but I’m not sure what else to expect from this upgrade.
Thanks for your assistance.
This amount of component variation leads to an unexpected result.
It's the third day and there isn't a single problem. The same SSD is being used, with no changes, but I can't seem to turn it on. I've tried all the methods I found on YouTube, but nothing works even with an OEM key. I just pressed the troubleshoot button... after about one minute... "We found a Win11 Key, press the activate button." It worked! Amazing... maybe they could connect it to the OEM?
A manufacturer's license is connected to its initial motherboard.
