Hello everyone - I recently boosted my 8700k to 4.8ghz at 1.25v. It’s performing well in Windows 10 with no WHEA warnings during Cinebench, but it becomes unstable in Windows 11. I encountered random BSODs there and am questioning whether raising the voltage would help.

Also, just noting that Cinebench isn't meant for stress testing. 5.3/5.4GHz Cinebench but only at 5GHz in tools like Linpack or Prime95 is typical. I think a real stress test would likely cause crashes even on Windows 10.

No crashes mean consistent performance; failures indicate instability.

Which BIOS options assist in reducing power usage and lowering temperatures? The system requires proper configuration to meet the CPU's demands while optimizing energy efficiency.

LLC configurations along with the CPU PLL voltage can minimize the voltage stress you experience under load. A more relaxed LLC and an appropriately adjusted PLL voltage may reduce benchmark voltages by 10 to 30 millivolts, though the actual set point will be slightly higher.
