I’m considering modernizing my main computer. For a while I’ve relied on a separate laptop for professional tasks and a personal machine for gaming. My work laptop is nearing its end of life (8+ years), so I’m curious about combining both roles in one system instead of using a KVM. This would eliminate the need for a separate machine and let me opt for a more capable setup—like a 5900X with 32GB RAM rather than a 5600X with 16GB. Since I operate from home running my own business, I want to keep things private and secure. I’ve heard about anti-cheat tools that monitor system memory, even ones that might touch kernel space. This raises my worries about privacy and data safety. I’m not fully confident in Windows’ handling of memory permissions, so I need clarity: if I set up two accounts—one for work and one for gaming—will Windows block the gaming account from inspecting memory used by the work account? Also, with Bitlocker enabled, will that affect my concerns? I’ve also been thinking about dual-booting two OS versions, but restarting frequently isn’t ideal. Overall, I’d appreciate some guidance on how Windows manages memory security so I can make an informed decision before investing.

I wouldn't be overly concerned, as using the same account should work. I believe the anti-cheat tools pose minimal security threats, and there are no recent reports about issues like random memory uploads.

It could technically involve sharing your internal data with another party, possibly without your permission, depending on the circumstances and applicable regulations.
