Hi everyone, I'm trying to assist a friend with a PC issue. He just added another RAM stick (16GB) and the machine starts up fine but doesn't show anything on the screen. I've checked both sticks separately—tested them in both slots on his system, tried connecting via the integrated display, reinstalled the card and RAM, and verified all connections are secure. I moved the GPU to his PC and it works perfectly. In my opinion, the problem might be with the motherboard, though I'm also considering other possibilities. I'm planning to get a new motherboard as a backup. Thanks a lot! I'll look into it this evening. If it doesn't resolve the issue, would assuming a dead mobo be the next logical move be reasonable?
The Ryzen 1700 lacks an integrated graphics card, so you may need to rearrange your GPU and cables and attempt the setup once more. Expect no output from the motherboard slot.
You can repurpose any metal item, including an old IDE hard drive, as long as it fits securely and stays in place for a few seconds. The manual suggests using a jumper cap or similar, but unplugging the PC is recommended. It also mentions that connections on the GPU or just the motherboard might differ, so double-check your setup.
I tested every connection on the GPU and was pretty confident I couldn't get the display out from the motherboard because of the CPU. Still, I decided to double-check just in case. I also tried different monitors, cables, and other setups, spending about two hours trying and failing. This was my first attempt fixing a friend's PC without a clear plan or solution by the time I left!
