I haven't refreshed my motherboard's BIOS in a while because it often causes me stress. There aren't many new BIOS releases available for my board, including the Intel Microcode patch, and I want to install that one. I'm not sure if I should apply each update individually or if I can upgrade directly to the latest version. The motherboard BIOS page is here: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-Z790-...FI/support. I'm currently running BIOS version 7D91vH5. My computer info is in my bio below this post. Edit: It seems the firmware update needs to be done separately, after the BIOS updates are applied.

It's fine to proceed directly to the newest BIOS unless told otherwise. For earlier versions or chipset drivers, let me know. After updating the BIOS, don't forget to install the corresponding chipset drivers.

The issue with MSI Intel boards is you need to update the ME first, then the BIOS. It’s not worth buying another MSI if I ever get Intel again, since ASUS already includes the ME update in the BIOS update. This makes things tricky for me because my only MSI board runs on Linux, while the ME update is meant for Windows. I’m stuck since I can’t easily switch to Windows temporarily due to being a home server.

The update to the ME Firmware shouldn’t cause any problems. The BIOS remains unaffected, and you can proceed directly to the newest version.
