Hello, I'm facing issues with Elden Ring that need DirectX 12.0 support. My machine has a 770 with 4GB RAM and runs DirectX 11 (feature level 11). I found an emulator for DirectX 11 that can be configured to work with either feature level 11 or 11.1 using forcewrap. However, I'm unable to increase the settings or launch the game properly. While my system has more than the minimum requirements, I'm unsure if it can handle the game's performance. I've seen setups that run well even with lower specs. For example, on a laptop with 1650 Ti and 8GB RAM, it runs smoothly at around 40-50 FPS despite the game being poorly optimized. Could there be a solution or workaround? Or should I consider playing on another device? Please share your system details and screenshots for better guidance.
Based on my understanding of DX, if it needs the complete DX12 version, it won't function with the Kepler series of cards since they only offer partial support. The only solution is to purchase a different card.
You're welcome! It seems it could be either a new GPU or an unexpected patch release.
Nope! Theres a fix, but you only can use it offline afaik because of EAC… I mean, i dont have the game but apparently its working… (seems to run fine too) Spoiler dll shenenigans ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if you do the fix above, make sure to follow the instructions, there isnt a high risk imo, but if i understand this right there *is* a risk to break your windows install if you dont do it right (these dlls are typically system critical files, so yeah… ) And stay offline…
Instead of using DX11, it can operate with Vulkan. Alternatively, you might use WineD3D which functions via OpenGL.
There are options like DX11, Vulkan and OpenGL available. I might use the DX11 version with my HD 6970.
Sure, even without a full grasp of the mechanics, the video suggested there might be multiple approaches. It's strange that developers opt for this path when the game performs adequately with lower specifications like dx11. Likely it will run smoothly at reduced settings or 720p.
