Hi Chris,
I see you're looking to share your music library across devices. You can set up a network-accessible DLNA server by configuring your external drive as a shared DLNA device on your local network. This way, other computers—whether Mac or PC—will be able to browse and play the music directly from the drive. Let me know if you need help with the setup steps!
Merry Christmas!

The simplest option is definitely a NAS. You can purchase one or simply set up FreeNAS on your laptop.

I understand, but I’m satisfied with the current arrangement. I’m using my previous laptop again. My concern is whether a NAS can handle the DLNA software I’m employing. Still, I’m certain drive sharing is feasible. I just want to learn the steps.
