The instructions recommend either A1/B1 or A2/B2 based on manufacturer suggestions. I don’t see a significant boost by switching channels. I suggest sticking with the options they highlight, typically starting with the ones farther from the socket, which is usually A2/B2.

Since both are permitted, they should operate well together. A2/B2 sits at the top if ordered that way, but it probably won’t boost performance noticeably. I tend to choose the farthest slots for better airflow around tower coolers with ample heat spreaders.

I changed my DIMMs from slots 1+3 (A1+B1) to 2+4 (A2+B2). I tested my PC with Geekbench 4.3.3, Cinebench R15, R20, FutureMark MemTest, CPU-Z 1.9, and Windows 10 using the command “winsat formal” in Command Prompt. The results matched exactly—no improvement nor decline in performance.
