Ensure Nvidia activates MSAA
Ensure Nvidia activates MSAA
Hi everyone,
I’m using a GeForce 940m on my Acer Aspire laptop and it works well.
I still play an old game from 2011 that doesn’t support MSAA but only FXAA anti-aliasing.
Does anyone know how to make the GPU or process use MSAA?
Thanks.
P.S.: What happens if I enable both FXAA and MSAA together?
Hey there,
You can adjust those settings from the Nvidia Control Panel. Navigate to 'Manage 3d Settings' and you'll find a section with both universal and program-specific options. You can create a tailored profile for that game (if needed) and enable the sampling mode there. It will activate whenever you launch the game. You also have the option to apply it globally, though this will affect all your games. Note: this might lead to visual issues or black areas on the screen if the game doesn't handle it well.

Many games from that era relied on deferred rendering, a feature MSAA doesn't support, which is likely why it wasn't added. The MSAA setting in the NVIDIA control panel probably won't make much difference either.
