I recently switched my setup from an RTX 3070 and a regular r7 5800x to an RX 6950xt and an r7 5800x3d. After installing the new graphics card without internet, some games worked smoothly. I’ve been able to play Hogwarts Legacy for long periods without problems and run benchmarks like Superposition for hours. However, playing Far Cry 6 causes the whole PC to freeze instantly when I pause the game. The display turns green, the speakers buzz, and the system restarts. This has also happened after switching tabs in modded Minecraft and clicking back into the game. There’s no blue screen, and the Event Viewer shows nothing unusual. At first, I thought it was the GPU drawing too much power from my 850W PSU during spikes, so I upgraded to a 1000W unit. But the issue persists in Far Cry. Could this be due to faulty hardware—maybe the GPU or CPU? Is there a RAM problem with the new components? What’s going on? I’ve also noticed a critical error report from the machine check exception, indicating a processor core error and a kernel power failure. It seems the crash originated from the system itself.
