I've searched for an hour—nothing worthwhile. With Quad9, should I configure the same IPV4 DNS on both my network and browser, or just on the network? In Brave, you can choose to let your ISP handle DNS or pick from a dropdown. Since Quad9 isn't listed, you'd likely need the 'custom' setting. Decide whether to apply it to the network or just the browser.

Bonus: For W7 (garage laptop), should I keep IPv6 enabled and use Quad9's IPv6 address, or turn it off? Your gateway/ISP already uses IPv6, and you notice traffic there—disabling IPv6 might help speed things up if Wi-Fi isn't strong enough. Let me know if you need more clarity!

For your network, every traffic must go through the DNS server unless a device is set to a different DNS provider. Therefore, when all apps are using the system DNS, they'll follow whatever you define for your network.

Network settings should take priority over default configurations. Using a custom DNS in Brave won’t override the network’s DNS unless you explicitly configure it. Ensure IPv6 is enabled if needed for full compatibility.

You just configured the DNS on your router. The main choice is designed to let the router handle it automatically. If you truly need advanced setup, consider installing Pi-hole on a separate device and directing your router to serve it as the DNS server.
