However, it's common to move from version 7 to 10, which means you'll need a 7 license key.

I purchased ten units... not necessary. I have a concept. I can leverage Linux and Wine to execute it. I've achieved success with certain older titles before. Wine appears to manage very outdated software more effectively than Windows...

You're really open and straightforward, won't miss out on XP for playing games?

Yeah, I get it. I’m fine with using an operating system that’s no longer supported. It’s not like Microsoft will suddenly show up and verify your activation from back in 2002.

I upgraded the license for Win10 that I purchased for $8, and everything functions properly now. Just needed to complete the activation via phone.

I've never purchased a Windows license before. Back when cracking Windows 7 was common, I upgraded to version 10 for free. As a student, I can obtain free Windows licenses through Microsoft. I dislike paying over $50 for Windows. It feels like a waste of money. I wouldn't mind spending around $7 though.

It's possible to get the key, yet it doesn't meet Microsoft's usage policies, meaning you've purchased the software legally, but using it may violate their terms.

I noticed something interesting about using VirtualBox with a Windows XP guest. It seems to run a GeForce 6800 and supports DirectX 9.0c without issues. This could be a good option since XP compatibility for hardware dropped around 2013, making it potentially simpler than building custom solutions. Of course, the way you get the XP matters—your responsibility is there.

We discovered the reason it doesn’t function. Ugh... see the link for details.
