Hey! Your Alienware M15 R5 looks great with the Ryzen 5800H and RTX 3050. I noticed your Valve Index setup is a bit tricky because the DisplayPort port on the back was connected to the built-in graphics, not the GPU. Most of my searches for passthrough solutions have focused on virtual machines, so I’m not seeing much help for this specific problem. If you have any suggestions or tips, it would be really helpful.

The sole external input available on the 3050 is one HDMI 2.1 port.

You could simply connect the USB-C cable directly and let the RTX 3050 handle streaming to its internal GPU. In Windows, you can usually configure a program to prioritize the more powerful GPU, which will manage everything else automatically. This approach may slightly reduce performance. Alternatively, an active HDMI to DP converter might also work effectively.

The standard didn’t function as expected. Even after configuring multiple SteamVR and game files for the 3050, everything still went through the integrated graphics unit. Are you looking for a reliable HDMI to DisplayPort active adapter?

It can occur with non-VR games too. Determining if it's using the iGPU often involves checking the task manager for display output usage, though processing may still happen on the real GPU. If unsure, ensure your system meets the required specifications; otherwise, it should function properly.

Regular games work with the 3050 without issues, but VR seems to cause problems. Checking Task Manager showed the iGPU at full use while the 3050 stayed only 15%.
