Considered reinstalling NFS:MW last year. Spent time searching through a large storage unit to locate the game disc, then dealing with a DVD setup. It seemed too complicated for me. This discussion sparked my interest in external drives moving forward. I haven’t used one before, so I’m learning about its reliability and how it works with CDs/DVDs and upcoming operating systems. I’m currently running Windows 7, but might upgrade to Windows 11 soon since a new PC is likely in a year or two.
Playing CDs on old games was a basic hardware feature. Back then, the system didn’t understand what it was doing—it simply read the disc and played the audio.
