Don't upgrade if you have coins. Opt for a solid Ryzen setup with DDR4 for better performance. Retain your current hardware; its speed won't change.

Do you own a GPU? Also, please hold on while the next-gen release comes around so we can buy something.

Thanks for the clarification. Most components except the CPU, motherboard, and RAM are still recoverable. I own an MSI R9 390.

I don't have a specific budget for the parts. Could you clarify what you're referring to?

You're likely working with limited funds, which gives you plenty of choices. Upgrading to Ryzen 1st and 2nd generation would be a solid move forward. DDR4 RAM is affordable, and swapping out your older DDR3 memory and CPU can help cover the costs a bit. You'll definitely notice the improvement. I've used a Ryzen 4 1400 with 4/8 cores/threads for HTPC/gaming and a GTX 980 for several years without any issues. If you manage to find something reasonably priced and a B450 motherboard, the experience will be significantly better.

I have a solid enthusiast budget. I was a bit too confident and tried to save money by swapping three items.

If you're working with that kind of budget, you can construct a powerful machine. Let me know if you need a list of PC components to source.
