Enhancing my computer for smooth 1080p streaming
So basically, I bought my PC about four or five years back and it’s really old now. I’m thinking about getting some upgrades because I’ve started streaming. Shameless Plug https://www.twitch.tv/marnikc lol. I realize I definitely need an SSD now—I’m not sure if I got one originally. I want to upgrade as much as possible so I can stream smoothly at 1080p60fps and play games in decent quality. I know it’ll cost a lot, but all the advice I’ve heard is helpful. I’m looking for a CPU with more cores and a better motherboard since mine is terrible. Also, I need to figure out if it’s worth it to upgrade this or if selling it would be cheaper. Please share your thoughts. I’m open to spending a fair amount if it saves me money in the long run. I’m planning a big overhaul, so let me know what you think. Thanks! Consider a LGA 2011 motherboard with either single or dual socket. Upgrade to an E7-8857 featuring 12 cores, 30MB cache, and a 3 GHz clock speed. Adding quad channel RAM is recommended, though extra RAM isn’t essential. For a GPU, a GTX 1070 or RX 580 with 8GB would be suitable.
Your processor handles streaming well, but you’ll still benefit from a solid SSD. Upgrading your graphics card is highly recommended.
