I understand people grumble about browsers using up a lot of memory; but if you can handle it, why not push it further? I see FF capping at roughly 1.5 gigabytes for me. Anyone know how to increase that limit? Thanks!

Chrome optimizes performance by utilizing my RAM, which is beneficial since I have sufficient memory available.

It seems your Firefox is hitting a limit of 1.5 gigabytes, even though you've noticed it handling more data on other devices.

Firefox is already running on a 64-bit version. To address @ illBelief's inquiry, follow these steps: open your search bar and type about:config, then look for browser.cache.memory.max_entry_size. Note that the value is given in MB; adjust accordingly by multiplying your total RAM (in GB) by 1024. Another option is to create a RAM disk and transfer all cache files there. (See instructions in output.pdf)

I rarely see my web browsers consuming a lot of memory (usually under 2GB). Right now I’m using roughly 1.5GB for Firefox and about 1.9GB for Chrome. If you’re curious about the tabs, Firefox also has around a dozen Reddit tabs open without being visible. Based on what people say about Chrome’s memory use, it seems moderate to me—maybe I’m not opening too many flash sites at once.

Hey everyone, I was wondering why it begins to exceed 1.5 FF and crashes rather than just using more RAM. @[member= MagnesiumPC ] I’ll give the suggestion a shot. I adjusted the memory.max_entry_size from 5120 to 10240 just to see what happens. Good luck!

The Stable release isn't available in 64-bit yet. Stable 42 will offer a 64-bit version via FTP, but not on the official site. If you're thinking beyond Stable, Firefox is already 64-bit and supports multiple processes.
