Enhance performance by boosting an i5-750 to address limitations
I possess an intel core i5-750 equipped with an aio water cooler. After roughly 20 minutes in-game, I've reached 38°C, but the fan only starts moving significantly once it hits 45°C. Once that threshold is crossed, it begins to increase more actively. My setup includes a Rtx 970 which will soon be upgraded to a 1080ti edition. I have 8Gb of Corsair Vengeance Pro and 4GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR3 RAM. The main fan runs at full speed continuously. Considering CPU overclocking might ease strain and eliminate bottlenecks in these titles (FF XV, Forza Horizon 4, Ark), I'm testing it now. My performance is stable around 38-55 FPS in FF with high settings at 120Hz and 1920x1200, 40-60 FPS in FH4 with high settings at the same resolution, and 55-60 FPS in Ark on medium settings. I'm working with limited budget, so maximizing what I have is a priority. Additionally, I'm using an EVGA H55 Mb card.
It won't lower the strain, just lets the CPU handle more tasks. Unlikely to match a 1080 Ti speed. You probably won’t notice a boost over your 970 given this bottleneck. Instead of chasing a 1080 Ti, consider cheaper options like a 980 or 980 Ti, or something around 1070. Pair it with an Xeon that fits your 1156 motherboard. A 3440 would be nice, but a 3470 or 3480 would be even better. Add some fast RAM if you're stuck on slow dimming and you'll be fine.
And the CPU never reaches its turbo boost, staying consistently at 2.67GHz
My sibling is getting a new graphics card, so he’s sharing his 1080. Luckily I don’t have to buy a new one myself, lol. I’ll check out the Xeon processors and see if I can fit them into my budget. My bike is eating up most of my funds right now :/, but I need it fixed before the riding season starts. And I plan to swap out the old 800MHz RAM for a better Pro stick.
It's affordable, though it originates from China, which means delivery could take longer. Worth the wait? Yes!
