Engaging in titles similar to BlackOps3 or AC Syndicate raises my CPU temperature to 90 degrees Celsius.
Hey everyone, just updated my prebuilt PC a while back. It's around two years old now. I upgraded the GPU and power supply, but the GPU is performing well. However, I'm worried about the CPU heating up over time. When playing BlackOps 3 or AC, the minimum temperature stays near 70°C, reaching up to 92°C which is quite high. During idle it's around 40-50°C, and about 60°C during light loads like League of Legends. I switched from the stock cooler to a Hyper T2 model, but it didn't make much difference under heavy use. I've monitored with both HWMonitor and NZXT Cam. Here are my specs: AMD A10 6700 with built-in graphics, 8GB RAM, MSI GTX 970, 100W PSU, 1TB HDD, Windows 8.1, Hyper T2 CPU cooler, plus a Noctua 92mm fan for the rear. I'm thinking about upgrading soon but want to keep it as it is. If you have any tips, it would be really helpful!
Are the cooler positioned accurately? Is the thermal paste applied properly?
Sure, it's actually quite extreme with the temperature. I tried the pea method, but it doesn't seem to help much when running at full capacity. It might just mean my old CPU isn't up to the task. Still, there should be a way to keep things safe and within a reasonable range.
Open the Nvida Control Panel, choose the GPU as the PhysX processor—it makes a difference.
I haven't really tested it yet, but I'll give it a try when I'm back. If it wasn't hot, would the positioning and thermal paste be the issue?
The application might not have been correct, or the paste could simply be of poor quality.
