Hey everyone. I built my gaming setup and attempted an overclock. About a month ago, I tried pushing it to 4.5Ghz at 1.2v. The system crashed, so I went back into the BIOS. Next, I tried 4.2 at 1.1V, but it cut out with a blinking underscore. In short, I removed the CMOS battery and everything worked again.

Recently, I attempted to reset my configuration back to 4.0Ghz at 1.1v. The system failed immediately, displaying a blinking underscore. I then removed the CMOS battery once more. This time it didn’t work. Now the computer keeps cycling through a pattern of turning on for 5-6 seconds, then off, restarting for 1 second, and repeating. I’ve tried a different PSU, reset the CMOS multiple times, unplugged power cables, done a 24-pin reset, but everything remains unresponsive except for booting. All fans are operational, yet it just keeps restarting.

I’m convinced something is stuck—possibly the motherboard or firmware. The specs I have are: I5-4690k, Z97-HD3, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070, TT Tr2 850W PSU, and cooled with a Corsair 110i 280mm.

Could also try reseating the RAM, GPU, and CPU. It might be worth a try. The new PSU didn't help in narrowing it down.

Your motherboard comes with two BIOS chips. I'm not sure if it has an automatic dual-Bios setup or a physical switch (I haven't worked with Gigabyte boards before), but that might be the issue.
You've likely damaged one of the two BIOS chips.
