you're new to GSync and just started using it. after about a year, you experienced screen tearing when GSync was active. I noticed this with a Predator X34 at 100Hz and a Titan X(maxwell). When I switched to VSync + GSync, the issue disappeared and FPS stayed similar to without VSync. I read that turning off VSync while GSync is on helps, but it causes tearing. Is there something wrong with your setup? You're not using any global settings in NVIDIA's control panel, and you haven't tried GSync off yet. Your games run smoothly at high settings, so the problem might be specific to GSync configuration.

Outlast 2 works adequately, so G-Sync isn't strictly necessary. Have you given it a try without it?

It makes sense you're puzzled—screen tearing with G-Sync usually happens when the display isn't handling the refresh rate properly, not because of the sync settings. I'll give it a try later.

What frame rate is displayed? Gsync won't function properly if your FPS exceeds your monitor's refresh speed, unless you activate the gsync+vsync feature which engages VSync when FPS surpasses the rate.

didn't recall the exact moment i began trying different titles after seeing screen tearing in outlast 2, though it was still above 60fps. it seemed to be around 70-80fps for my usual games. disabling vsync didn't alter the issue—only the tearing appeared.

It's ideal to pair gsync with vsync on for Nvidia control panel versus in-game vsync. Then, in the game or software, set the FPS to about three frames below your refresh rate. This prevents vsync from triggering and reducing input lag. To be honest, I rarely limit FPS now—I don’t notice any lag at all. In short, just turn on vsync in the control panel and skip the rest.

I attempted to disable GSSync. Using only VSYNC kept the frame rate capped at 100 (and lower), matching the monitor's refresh rate, but I observed an unusual horizontal tear that scrolls from top to bottom every few minutes, taking roughly six seconds to complete. Without VSYNC it fluctuates between 100 plus or minus a few frames, causing the screen tear. Since I prefer VSYNC with GSSync enabled for this game, and other titles seem fine with just GSSync active, I’m sticking with that setup.
