Discussed a Socket P to Socket M swap among ThinkPad enthusiasts. Pin changes were noted but no success reported. I’ve swapped LGA771 to LGA775 using an adhesive CPU pad adapter—though this isn’t feasible for PGA. Also, avoid Windows 10 on C2D laptops; better luck next time. Windows 11 Superlite by Ghost Spectre works well on my C2D ULV, especially with Brave as the browser.

I use Win10 on many C2D laptops without problems. Anything over 2ghz works well. A solid SSD makes C2D laptops great for light tasks.

That’s a valid observation. I can recall the era as fairly advanced for its time, though high-end GPUs in laptops weren’t widely adopted yet (around 2006–2007). As for enjoying those older setups, it definitely sparked my interest!

I search for quirky or vintage systems to work with. I purchase them in a bad condition and attempt to fix them myself.
