Encountering slowdowns in nearly all games.
Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my computer. It's been this way for a while now, but I'm still unsure what's causing the issues. During gameplay in both older and newer titles, my system feels sluggish, slow to respond, and lags significantly—like it's stuck from the late '90s. You'll notice the screen flickers or moves erratically, and sometimes it plays in slow motion. This problem appears across multiple games including Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, Doom Eternal, and Silence. I've tried switching to a different mouse, using another graphics card, reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, BIOS, and firmware. Still nothing works. When I check the Task Manager, the GPU is always at 100%, while my CPU fluctuates between 70% and 100%, and RAM stays steady around 50-60%. Despite everything meeting the recommended specifications, my system still struggles. Could anyone help identify what might be wrong?
The temperatures are rising in a way comparable to thermal throttling effects on the CPU and/or GPU.
My GPU operates consistently at 65°C or 149°F, while the CPU stays below 60°C or 140°F.
You might be facing a limitation in PCIe bandwidth. Start by downloading and running GPUz, then check the Bus Interface settings for PCIe 3.0 x16 configuration. It's crucial to perform the render test first, as the GPU typically reverts to lower modes like x1 or x4 when idle. If you can, execute the test and capture a screenshot of GPUz for reference.
this is during a basic game of Battlefield 4. so i was slightly off when i was asked for my temps.
Look for background processes in the task manager to identify what might be causing delays.
In games that don’t fully use all the chip’s cores, the single-core speed might actually be the limiting factor.
