I've noticed frequent frame drops mainly in R6 and similar situations, along with stuttering that appears to be resolved by using freesync. My GPU and CPU usage seem to spike unexpectedly without any obvious reason. I've reinstalled drivers twice, adjusted settings in AMD Adrenalin, verified temperatures (not reaching 70°C), removed Translucent TB because it might affect the taskbar, and even considered disabling Hudsight since its release. Still unsure what's causing these issues. My specs are: CPU Ryzen 5600, GPU RX6700XT, SSD P3 Crucial 1TB, PSU Gigabyte, RAM 16GB Kingston Fury at 3200MHz, and I'm using a 16GB RAM system overall.
Check the details of your PSU—are you using the Gigabyte P-GM model? This might explain the issue right away. Was this happening by chance, and have you made any changes around that time? Which tool are you tracking CPU and GPU activity with? After reinstalling the GPU drivers, did you use DDU or a standard reinstall?
I removed the drivers a second time using ddu and then reinstalled them with amds adrenaline software. The GP-UD750GM is the model number, though I’ve owned it for a year now and it’s only showing problems now. I recently added a 2tb hard drive, but since I don’t run any of these games on it, that seems unlikely to be the cause. I also purchased new SATA connectors because my original cables were missing. I’m tracking GPU, CPU, and RAM usage via MSI and Riva Tuner Station, and checking GPU temperatures with Amd Regular Software. Recently, I switched my monitor’s display port cable, but I don’t recall noticing any link between the change and frame drops. I believe this issue began somewhat randomly; aside from the software changes I’ve mentioned, these are probably the only adjustments I made recently that could matter. I’ve never played Cyberpunk 2077 before, so these sudden frame drops are surprising to me.
I've also started seeing unusual static lately, especially last night and today, with streaks appearing on my screen.
I'm considering a slight reduction in GPU voltage. Probably worth trying, but I still need to be within my warranty timeframe—most of these components were new last year. Also, I haven't overclocked my GPU yet. I'll monitor how it performs. I might also test disconnecting the hard drive, since that seems to be a power supply issue only after connecting it.
yeah Ive unplugged the harddrive and things seemed to be a bit more stable (no more noticable pauses at least in r6) but definitely more bands and now my second monitor is unusable after my pc stopped displaying when i tried to change settings in forza (was running at a max 12fps with hdr on for some reason. bit unsure as to whats gone on especially since the amd adrenaline driver software (which i used earlier today) now says my drivers are incompatible and wont open?
You seem to have mixed components with questionable quality—like a dubious PSU, a known bad SSD, and possibly an underpowered GPU. It looks like your setup isn’t ideal, and these problems aren’t surprising. Just double-check that everything is current: BIOS, chipset, GPU drivers, and the operating system. Unless you’re comfortable upgrading, it might be best to replace the parts rather than risk further issues.
