Encountering repeated ping increases lasting over 200 milliseconds during a new Windows setup
I’ve noticed several issues with my PC while playing online games over a wired connection. Large ping spikes, lag, and occasional disconnections have become common. These problems started after upgrading the motherboard and CPU from an i5 6600k to a Ryzen 5 2600x with a GIGABYTE AURUS X470 board. I also faced performance concerns because of improperly uninstalled drivers, which led me to reinstall Windows. Despite trying fixes like restarting the PC, router, and changing Ethernet ports, the ping spikes still happen on my machine. My current specs are: CPU Ryzen 5 2600x, GPU NVIDIA GTX 1070, and I’m using a BT Home Hub 5 as my router. You can view my ping test results here: https://www.netmeter.co.uk/ping-test/201...-5330.html
Are there tools available to enhance your internet speed or potentially third-party security solutions?
Your motherboard appears to support cfosSpeed. Consider turning it off and observe the results. Intel® GbE LAN includes cFosSpeed, a tool that manages network traffic to reduce latency and keep ping times low in busy LAN settings. If you haven’t installed it yet, you might want to try that as well.
