I have a Windows 8 system I want to turn off and use the same product key on another device. The second machine is running Windows 7 Ultimate, and I tried contacting Microsoft support but they didn’t understand my request. Now I need guidance on how to deactivate the product key for Windows 8 that I no longer use on the old computer, so I can apply it to the new one. Also, since the older PC came with Windows 8 pre-installed and no disk is available, what should I do?

It needs to be turned off through Microsoft, that's the only proper method.

Not accurate - Press Windows key + X, then select Command Prompt (Admin). At the prompt, enter: slmgr.vbs -upk and press Enter. This will remove the product key from your computer and restore it to trial mode, allowing you to use it on another machine. If issues arise, contact support by phone on the new PC: 1. Press Windows key + X and click Run, then type: slui.exe. 2. Press ENTER. 3. Pick your 'Country' from the options. 4. Choose 'Phone Activation'. 5. Remain on the phone and wait for assistance. 6. Clearly describe your issue to the support representative.

It seems you're quoting a phrase. Would you like me to rephrase it or explain its meaning?

You didn't receive that message from Yahoo, did you? That's what I did, and the other person replied, completely confused about what I was saying.

I came across this info from a saved bookmark on the M$ forums. --- Just skip parts 5 and 6 of the phone activation—it mainly asks for the code and then gives you another one to enter into the PC. Done

No need to act right after typing the command prompt. Wait for the prompt to disappear before proceeding.

Start by opening your key and then proceed with reinstalling Windows on your new PC, ensuring the second phone activation step is completed.
