Encountering problems with connecting to a new PC.
Hey everyone, I'm stuck too. I just set up a new gaming rig and the upload is acting up. At first I thought it was a Wi-Fi issue, so I tried a Powerline adapter with a LAN cable, but nothing changed. My downloads are normal, but my upload is super slow—between 0.6 and 1.2 Mbps, while elsewhere it's 8 to 10 Mbps. It stays the same no matter which connection I use. I've updated all drivers and BIOS, except for a few that were hard to find. My specs are: MSI Pro Z690-P DDR4 CPU, Intel i5 12600K, Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM, Palit RTX 3060 Ti GPU, and a Corsair RM750W power supply. I don’t know where else to look for help. Thanks! Federico
He seemed to be talking about software rather than drivers, such as programs that optimize computer performance. For instance, ASUS offers the Armory Crate. It’s unclear what MSI uses for its software solutions. Could you share your testing approach? I assume you applied the same process for each device you checked—please let me know if not.
Ah ok, then no, no softwares were downloaded, and honestly I don't even know if there is any. I always tested with the same method for all devices, both on wifi and on LAN. I used Ookla's Speedtest.
If needed, I reached the MSI Center for assistance. Although I saved it for Mystic Light, it offers additional features like speed testing and connection checks. The results from cFos Speed Test showed a download speed of 15490.02 Kbits/s and an upload speed of 640.04 Kbits/s, with a response time of 54.2 ms and a test size of 12.9 Mbytes. However, the upload performance was quite poor. Ookla's Speedtest reported a ping of 20 ms, download speed of 51.92 Mbps, and upload speed of 1.00 Mbps.
It’s unusual how I got connected—was it via USB or a PCIe card? You might want to check Linux too. Also, consider tracking your network activity with tools like Task Manager or GlassWire to spot any processes using bandwidth.
I used a USB antenna, yet nothing changed with the wired setup. Also, the antenna functions perfectly with another PC using the same connection. I haven’t tried Linux and prefer not to, just to avoid the hassle of installation. If necessary, I’ll consider it later. Next time I’ll try using the PC and check network performance. I’ve also upgraded to Windows 11, which has improved somewhat (now around 2 Mbps upload), though it’s still significantly lower than other devices in the house—cabled or Wi-Fi. It seems like a software issue or something with the mobile device itself. I don’t know how to fix it yet...
Linux offers flexibility without requiring installation; choose a version with a LiveUSB and boot it straight from a USB. This approach helps verify issues similar to those seen on Windows, which often experience odd networking problems.
