Encountering issues with AMD GPU drivers
so a few days ago i was doing surgery on my 7850, which seems to have released its magic smoke (not literally which is even more annoying) during the surgery i tried to boot on my linux partition, it didn't boot completely, and today that i had to use it again i find myself with what seems to be a lack of display driver, i am running ubuntu 18.04 (back to stock kernels, tried on other kernels and the same thing happens) here is what i tried until now, while trying to find the problem: Spoiler lspci -vnn | grep VGA -A 12 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Why it's called rx 480? Shouldn't it be a 7850? Anyway it seems an hardware fault to me, is Windows working fine?
The card stopped working, so I switched back to my main RX 480. After updating the kernel, it started functioning properly. I installed three out of four files because one was only available unsigned, which caused issues for me, but I didn’t complain about it.
