Hey there, I’ve been sharing a lot on this forum because my PC has been acting up a lot lately. My setup includes an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC with a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM, 3200MHz, and a 275GB SSD (from an older build), plus a 4TB HDD (brand new) and a 2070 Super drive. The problem began with odd booting behavior that was really bothersome. It turned out my BIOS was still in legacy mode instead of UEFI, so I switched it over. Everything seemed fine until I saw a “System Reserved” entry next to two other drives—something I didn’t want to keep. As a perfectionist, I removed the drive letter, but it caused some instability, leading to lag and stuttering even when just browsing. After giving it another go with a new letter, the PC started working better, though it still took a while to boot. Then I tried using IOBit software to scan and reset things, but the issues persisted. I attempted a full Windows reinstall via the media creator, hoping it would fix everything, but it didn’t help much—it was behaving exactly as described. Now I’m considering a complete wipe with the installation tool, worried about losing everything. Could this be related to the legacy-to-UEFI conversion? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

how old is the ssd? i've never had the issues you are having messing with files. do a test on the drive if you can. what brand ssd is it? they usually have a software that will check if all your settings are set up correctly for the ssd.

I've had it since about February in 2018. Not too old. Here's a video showing how bad my mouse is. No audio but it's buzzing away. F0DED89A-630F-4113-BF34-6D168B1EDF0A.MP4

Bios is completely refreshed, and I haven’t tested the RAM yet. It performed flawlessly just over a month ago.

I solved the problem. Made a USB stick using Rufus, installed Windows 10 via an ISO that supports UEFI and GPT, performed a complete reset, and everything worked smoothly.

The legacy or UEFI setup doesn't influence audio or similar aspects. But fine.
