Attempting to set up Ubuntu on your server with a 120GB SSD and 250GB HDD, using Windows Server 2016 on the SSD. Successfully booted from USB last month, now encountering an error during installation. The system starts normally but displays a purple loading screen followed by the message: "Can't request omem region." It seems this issue might be related to your motherboard model, as noted in your signature.

Check if other distributions function well. Consider Fedora.

Did you verify the ISO file with a checksum before downloading? I prefer torrents since they include built-in file integrity checks.

memtest helps ensure stability during setup. The server works well on Windows Server 2016, but a faulty stick could prevent initialization while still allowing a full OS to boot. This suggests one of your RAM modules failed recently—especially since it's ECC memory. I clarified that the issue isn’t related to the ISO files themselves. I tested multiple times using the same ISO on both my gaming PC and a new setup, confirming no problems.

Also, some boot choices are exclusive to Windows. Verify your BIOS that the "other OS" setting is active, and consider disabling Fast Boot if it’s not needed.

The machine and motherboard worked well with Ubuntu a couple of months ago, using the same version. All settings remain consistent, and I’ve verified the BIOS doesn’t have any conflicting options.

Worth nothing at this point Im willing to do something drastic like a complete wipe, I just dont know what this error pertains to so that might not even fix it if its a BIOS issue or something.

It's the newest release, 16.04. I'm not sure if the kernel is up to date. The motherboard I use for my server is a Supermicro model, which makes me think the problem might be there.
