Encountered issues with the 7 64-bit version freezing.
Hi everyone, I recently purchased a new PC and encountered some issues during installation. Using my Windows 7 64-bit Ultiimate CD to set up the OS on an SSD, I noticed it would freeze in the "Starting Windows" window when loading from the CD. After several attempts, I managed to install the OS onto the SSD, but whenever it restarts so we can log in, it freezes again on the same screen. Occasionally, the "Starting Windows" screen disappears entirely, leaving just a blank space in the top-left corner. I changed the boot drive to the SSD where Windows was installed, and nothing in the BIOS changed except that. Do you have any insight into what might be causing this? It’s really frustrating! Later, I listed my hardware: an i7 5960X, Sli Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980, 32GB RAM from GSKill (2400MHz), ASUS Rampage V Extreme Power Supply, Corsair AX860 SSD, Samsung Evo 256GB, and a Samsung Evo 500GB HDD from Western Digital. The OS is being installed on the 256GB SSD.
Did you reinstall it or perhaps disconnect the SSD and plug it back in and try again? Have you relocated your PC while it was functioning?
You're onto something. My computer performs well with Vista, experiences issues with 7, and functions smoothly on Windows 8 and 10. The classic shell replacement for the Start menu is a great improvement.
