I clicked the wrong option about a while back, which placed my profile picture in the top left corner over Chrome's logo on the taskbar. These changes feel unnecessary and disruptive to my routine. I searched through the flags but couldn't locate a way to disable them. There was a similar setting in the top right that resolved the issue before, but it also appeared linked to this problem. Now I notice Chrome launches more slowly and briefly displays other icons as file symbols when starting.

Remove your account right away. Delete it completely if needed, then clear Chrome. Wipe any leftover files from the specified paths and restart the system. Reinstall Chrome and log back in.

Doh!! Easy solution, I didn't realize it. Starting in Windows 8 mode by accident generated an extra user account. These icons appear to indicate which profile is active. Removing the unwanted account clears them away.
