Encountered issue with GTA V: ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT
Congratulations, you now need to reduce your GPU speed in order to run the game smoothly without issues. If you plan to reach out to R*, it’s best to mention your difficulties and note that you’ve installed the newest Windows updates, drivers, and Steam. You’ve also lowered your GPU clock, memory clock, and updated the game to its latest version. I mentioned in my initial message that my setup includes a GTX 980 i5 4690K, an ASUS Z97-A motherboard, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. They can ask you about these details, but I also told them my specs are... GTX 980 i5 4690K, ASUS Z97-A board, 8GB RAM, 1TB SSD. They’ll likely ask if you’ve updated Steam, the game to the latest version, Windows updates, and GPU drivers. Confirm you meet the minimum requirements. I confirmed everything in my first message. R* later said nothing, but lowering your GPU clock should help—though it’s not ideal. My overclock has stayed stable for six months across various titles, but now even a +5 boost isn’t possible in games like GTA. Make sure you satisfy the minimum specs. Edit: Evolved to face the same issue, which was resolved in a patch.
I noticed you're using a GTX 680. I've got a GTX 770, which is quite close in specs. After playing for a while, I got the screen after a few days and found that enabling V-Sync helped. Now I can reach around 60fps without issues.
Works fine with VSync enabled and no crashes observed. You might want to try increasing the overclock next time.
It actually works well. You cap your frames per second, which reduces the GPU's workload and leads to better stability.
