Hey there, so I'm having an issue with my HP Compaq 8200 Elite running Windows 7 Pro. Everything seems to work, but when it tries to install Service Pack 1 it keeps failing. I've heard that these prebuilt machines might have a special BIOS that could be the cause, but no one seems to have found a clear fix yet. Got any ideas or solutions?

I haven't experienced a BIOS problem like this before, perhaps an update would help and running SFC/scannow via command prompt could assist. Otherwise it might be stuck. You could also use the media creation tool from Microsoft if you're planning to switch to Windows 10—it should work with your Windows 7 key.

Sure, I'll try running the SFC now and let you know the results. Thanks for the suggestion!

Scan shows no issues... I’m not keen on upgrading just for a win of 10. Maybe check the BIOS later, and if that doesn’t work, would reinstalling be an option?

Wow, just resetting the update from Windows Update fixed it. Lol!
