It disappears once you disconnect and switch networks, indicating it isn't a browser or device setting problem. Resetting the router to its original settings makes it improbable that web filtering or proxy features were active, as these are usually disabled by default. The most likely causes are DNS servers being assigned via DHCP or the router routing to IPs outside your area or taking an unusual path. I suggest checking your router's settings and updating the DHCP options to include the DNS servers I mentioned (or a combination like 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1). This should help if the issue persists. It may take some time for devices to refresh their cached DNS records after the TTL expires.

Continue reading the full piece. The range refers just to one possible pointer; the actual comparison involves matching the router's WAN address with the IP shown on a website.

Confirmed, the IPv4 address on my device matches the broadband IP in the router within that range.

Also interesting, internet service providers often block VPN usage when they detect it. The main reason is to bypass geographic restrictions on streaming platforms and other services. If a VPN is used, the ISP might be liable for any charges incurred by the service provider. We faced this issue at one workplace where our sales team relied on VPNs to access our network remotely. Many hotels also restricted VPNs, forcing us to use mobile hotspots or disable them on phones.
