The program is searching for a .vbs file in the Windows Temp folder. It seems the developers didn’t clearly specify where to place it. It might have accidentally saved a VBS script from Sony’s servers, which is missing or damaged, and instead of showing an error, it thinks it was found. You could try checking later if that resolves the issue. If not, reinstalling your Sony VAIO updater might help. Also, Windows 8.1 is free for all Windows 8 users—just ensure your system is fully updated, open the Windows 8 App store, and it will download and install it automatically once you restart. Remember, some people may not understand these steps.

I changed the Vaio software updater and a few Windows updates, yet the issue persists. Yes, I’m using Windows 8.1 right now.

It seems like the problem might be with the software itself. You should reach out to Sony technical support for help. Why are you attempting to make it function? Just uninstall the updater and install the newest drivers directly from the Sony website. Of course, I understand it’s easier, but I believe you’ll save more time than fixing something beyond your control.
