I tried various Flash drives, reinstalled the .iso several times, and recreated the partitions for the OS. I realized the Linux swap partition was 3.9 GB instead of 4, even though I set it to 4. I added 4.1 GB for swap and it still read as 4, but the freezing issue persisted. The boot partition is slightly over 800 MB—uncertain if it impacts performance. Also, the drives are around 8 GB each, like 7.60 GB, and I’m not sure if that matters.

you're looking to run two operating systems side by side on a budget laptop with limited specs.

The laptop runs so slowly that I doubt PopOS is the best choice for it.

It doesn't fit the system. The gnome-shell desktop pop_OS is too heavy for that PC. Instead, consider Lubuntu or Xubuntu, which run on lightweight LXQT or XFCE desktops.

Sure, glad you found it helpful. My friend recommended Pop-OS because it doesn’t come with unnecessary software and is a solid Linux distribution for newcomers. That’s why I chose it as my starting point.

It's accurate, though it requires significant resources. It was developed by system76 for their current systems, not basic or outdated equipment.

Kubuntu and Manjaro are also viable options.

The DE takes precedence over the distro, KDE Plasma isn't as slim as some say because it depends on hardware acceleration for much of its compositing.

I ran Arch Linux with Plasma on my old laptop, and it performed much better than GNOME or Windows.
