I possess an AMD Ryzen 5 3600x which performs poorly in certain RTS titles (Half-Life 4 & Counter-Strike 4). I attempted to apply a Precision Boost Overdrive setting in the BIOS, but couldn't locate it on my ASRock motherboard. After using ClockTuner, I encountered persistent errors: 11:55:15 rejecting prerequisites 90 and 92, and Phoenix was disabled. Can I even enable PBO? What's behind these ClockTuner problems and can they be resolved? Might manual overclocking become necessary?

Zen2 gained some notoriety for being an unusually low-value overclocking tool. Most users typically used it alongside PBO.

I don't agree; PBO didn't add value but overclocking proved more effective. I didn't achieve the desired improvements with PBO, yet manually adjusting static clock speeds led to 200MHz faster clocks compared to what PBO provided.

The RAM upgrade offers the greatest advantage. By adjusting timings and increasing memory voltages, you can achieve a 10% to 25% boost. If you were in your position, just slightly lower the CPU voltage to provide extra thermal capacity before diving into detailed research on RAM overclocking and stability improvements.

Pbo functions mainly as a memory overclock, adjusting RAM to its specified maximum rate. Did you mean this process didn’t work properly and you had to set it up yourself?

PBO isn't related to RAM; it's about XMP. On Zen2 it performs poorly, and CPUs can achieve faster speeds than what PBO allows.

The usual belief was that the stock coolers for Zen 2 worked adequately since the components naturally overclocked. Do you mean this isn't accurate?

PBO behaves similarly to the lowest performing CPUs when using Zen2. It's unclear exactly how it functions, but overclocking any Zen2 chip consistently achieved higher clock speeds than PBO could reach with reduced voltages, while maintaining those speeds.

Is the stock cooler sufficient? If yes, it remains a poor overclocker. For better performance, a larger cooler would be necessary.
