Hi Linus Tech community. I'm just wondering if there's a legitimate way to activate windows 8.1 without a key. I'm still waiting on the OS to be sent to me and i was wondering if there was a way to use windows until it arrives in a few days time. Thanks!

You can find the installer on the official website or through a trusted software store. When prompted for a key, enter your valid product key as requested.

Is this what you're asking about? The link points to a German download site for the file.

For Windows 8.1 Pro, use the standard installation code. For Windows 8.1 Core, employ this alternative code. These codes are for activation only; they won’t work for activation.

Certainly. However, on Windows 8.1 there isn't a 30-day window. You're free to use it as much as you like. You'll just encounter pop-ups requesting activation and only receive a limited number of updates.

I didn't catch that. I assumed it would be similar to Windows 7.

You've already addressed that point. No suggestions for crack or activator should be provided here.

He wanted a solution. I shared what I understood. I didn’t provide any resources or additional details.
