Hello everyone, my PC just displayed the Windows activation watermark again after a few months of use. When I opened settings, it reported that my key wasn’t valid—remembering it was still active when I first installed Windows. It suggested purchasing a genuine license from Microsoft. I have two possibilities for this issue: 1) The key came from an old Windows 7 laptop I switched to Linux on, and 2) the day before the watermark appeared, I upgraded my system—changing the motherboard, CPU, and GPU. I’ve heard Windows might verify hardware to confirm original installation. Thanks!

Connect the Windows key to your Windows account to resolve the problem. I’ve done this with several older Windows 7 Pro keys that are now using 10 Pro.
