You cannot perform that action, but it can be used as a page file. When the system runs out of RAM, it will utilize the page file to provide extra memory.

I plan to attempt it. It’s possible a Chinese manufacturer created an M.2 to DDR4 DIMM adapter—different from the one Linus used for the M.2 to SATA power connection, which seems unusual.

The process runs automatically using a page file. Optane performs somewhat slower compared to DDR4, so you shouldn't see excellent outcomes.

I understand, but it would have been cool to watch my dad react when I mentioned having 32GB of RAM. He mostly assembled it himself and he’s familiar with its capacity.

Some advertising suggests otherwise, but in reality Optane functions more like an SSD, not related to RAM. It enables caching of a hard drive via native hardware support, something another SSD might achieve with software.
