Hey there, newcomer! I see you're diving into CS:GO and noticing your ping stays around 160-170ms during matches. That’s a bit high and can affect gameplay. I’ve checked some settings you mentioned—changing the matchmaking max ping to 50, closing programs, and running ipconfig commands—but it doesn’t seem to fix the issue. Playing on local servers closer to you gives you a much better ping, around 23ms, but it still fluctuates. You mentioned using wireless instead of Ethernet, which might help. If you’re open to it, let me know what you try next, and I’ll see if there’s a solution!

Adjust maxping to around 100 so it only links to servers with a ping under 100.

Maybe it's linked to someone else's connection. If it just goes up briefly, I wouldn't be too concerned. I don't usually feel this way. Are there any other programs running that might be using too much bandwidth?

He often plays Dota 2 or CS:GO during my gaming sessions but never joins me. He doesn’t have any programs running while he plays.

It might be linked to the same network. You don't need to be in the same match or playing the same game for this to happen. Are you using a wired or wireless connection?

Consider switching to Ethernet if you experience high ping even without your brother online.

Ethernet offers several benefits, including reliable data transfer, cost-effectiveness, and widespread compatibility across devices.

it's a solid connection. Theres no escape for the data inside it. Imagine having 100 jelly beans (bare with me here) and standing 20ft away from your router and trying to throw all of them to your router...some of them are going to get lost right? now imagine a tube going from the router to you 20 ft away..every jelly bean would make it to the router.... the tube being the Ethernet cable and the data being the jelly beans....I feel like I need an award for the worst metaphor ever..but you get my point right?
