You can find skins on their site, featuring several "dark" options: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/skins.html. A guide at the beginning explains how to use the skin files.

I'm familiar with skins that switch everything to dark mode. All the menus in Windows were black on my old Linux system, and I'm not sure how to set it up.

I've also been thinking about this. Mostly rely on MPC-HC64, but occasionally switch to VLC for certain tasks.

I haven't tried any particular skins. I stick to the default since, usually, I only check the VLC interface briefly before switching to fullscreen. That's a fair estimate—I rarely use it now, but I need it because certain video formats are the only ones that usually work. VLC – for those times when you're wondering why anyone still uses .drc in 2023?

The Windows edition lacks a dark mode feature present in Linux and MacOS. For a suitable skin, we suggest "eDark Vlc" – https://www.alphr.com/dark-mode-vlc/

I'm not sure how to do that. I used to have Mate, and the settings were similar, but I didn't install anything then. The link you shared is for Qt-based systems only.
